I Am Looking To Buy Concrete House With No Roof On It And Am Wondering How Much A Concrete Roof Costs? It Is In Florida So It Has To Be Wind Resistant And I Would Like To Walk On It. Also How Much More An Angle? To Mount Solar Panels On?

Wind resistant is probably dictated by Fla. Dade County rules.
There is concrete tile roofs, there is poured light weight concrete methods and etc.
Anything over 120 miles per hour I would be leaving anyway.
Ike gave us 100 Plus here in TX and I live 100miles from the coast.
If you got the money, I am sure something can be built.
Then u have to waterproof it, concrete is not waterproof, it will have to be treated.

Why Dont We Just Use Solar Panels And Salt Water Extraction Machines To Get Water For The Cali Drought?

Hey Baboom, the cost is one drawback to that solution, but more important is the sheer magnitude of the problem. California is having a drought right now, has been for over a decade. Over the 40 or so years since world war two, developement out there has been staggering compared to almost the rest of the free world. Californians were safe in the knowledge that the Sierras would always generate and store enough water in the form of snow runoff each year that they could do whatever they wanted. That's just human nature, there is no blame here. The same can be said for governments spending the peoples tax money, or people driving way larger and more wasteful cars whenever the price of gas goes down.

This drought in California may be a natural cycle, or part of a larger man made dilemma, we will not agree on that until it is all over. The point is, the type of crops that were grown there for decades, and the sheer acreage, the type of lifestyle, like putting golf coursed in places like Palm Desert, all led to a much higher water to user ratio than anyplace else in North America. We would need to have desalinator plants that produce enough fresh water to refill Mono Lake once a day to keep up with demand. The energy needed to run them would be astronomical, even if you provided it with solar. You have to remember that asking why we can't do something like this isn't that we can't, but to use our joint resources to build a solar desalinator that delivered 100,000 cubic feet of fresh water per day would make those resources unavailable to other areas of our economy. The aluminum required to frame all the solar panels for example, would probably cause a price spike in aluminum four or five fold. Now jet airliners double in price, so we lose export from Boeing to other countries, which causes layoffs in high pay jobs like aeronautical engineering, and increases our national debt.

I think a desalination plant might be a good idea, but only as a small part of a diverse water supply system. Ideas like this are like a 12 year old wanting a new bike. He asks Mom and Dad for it, but he only sees the bike, he doesn't see the $200 that Mom and Dad do not have after buying the bike to pay for gas, or groceries, or invest for retirement. Successful lifestyles require balance. The rate that California uses water today is way out of balance with the resources available, or the rest of the world. Well the ozone layer is 10s of miles above our head (about 60 miles up is considered outer space) and pollution is eating away at the ozone layer thus causing harmful UV rays to come through giving humans skin cancer, but with nanotechnology, stem cell research, and other recent technological advances, cancer won't be of a risk. However, stopping pollution via energy cars that run on electric, air, or water, solar panels, and other energy products and metamaterials will reduce or even reverse global pollution (or global warming, however this is a bit controversial) thus halting further damage done to the ozone layer and then that will give it time to repair.

I'm going that way, too. Water is your best bet, it's strong and steady if you can make use of a stream. I don't have that. I live by the ocean and have lots of wind and sun, will use those two. Get ready to invest in some big battery banks and expensive, electric switchgear (AC/DC converter to make AC for your computer and washer/ dryer, etc.). If you have 3 wind turbines and a roof full of solar panels, you can pretty much go off the grid (well, in a climate like Vancouver Island, that is). If you can make yourself about 3000 to 5000 Watts, you're cruising.
You can make things a lot more efficient by losing those stupid light bulbs and going fluorescent or LED (we're talking hundreds of Watts of savings in the average household).
Only bummer is heating, it just doesn't produce enough juice for it. Well, unless you add a few wind turbines and panels.
