The problem is the solar charger...you need someting big enough to replace the 1.25 amps you are drawing, plus something for loss of efficiency.

Here in Arizona and most of the southwest the sun shines AND the wind blows almost everyday....certainly enough days..about 350 of them to make wind and solar a viable option for most power generation. With the proper investment and the application of even current technology 85% of ALL the electrical needs of half the United States could be met without burning an ounce of coal and at a lower cost and without the dangers of nuclear energy. A good portion of the rest of the country could also generate a substantial portion of their needs the same way. Only the coal mafia and the nuclear industry are against moving forward into the 21st century....they have a cash cow to protect and they will protect it at all costs. It's all about their profits, none of it about the future of our country...and that's why we continuously get propaganda as in this 'question'. How sad is that?
