Cautiously pro. The nuclear power industry does have an extremely good safety record. Chernobyl was a big exception, and was caused by poor engineering, poor maintenance, and poor training. More people die every year mining coal or drilling for oil than have ever died from nuclear power. However, the big unsolved problem is what to do with the nuclear waste. None of the "solutions" dreamed up so far are satisfactory, so until this is solved I would prefer to leave nuclear power alone and investigate other options (solar, wind, tidal, geothermal). These technologies could become cost effective if enough money is put into the necessary research and development.

Mark my words - hydrogen fuel is the answer because combustion of hydrogen produces water and this produces no contamination, does not require the consumption of fossile fuels. Hydrogen could be created using solar power to generate electricity to split pure water into hydrogen gas and oxygen. An engine can be built that does this, splitting water into hydrogen gas through electrolysis and then combusting it with the oxygen which is separated - however, our government and strong corporate interests surpress this knowledge because too much money is at stake by corporate interests to make it happen yet on a large scale. Eventually, it will happen, but its going to take a lot more suffering on the part of humanity before those corporate interests get out of the way of common sense and progress.
