What Our Customers are Saying

"We found all of the employees with whom we in contact from the sales representative to the installers to be knowledgeable and professional. All our questions were answered satisfactorily which is why we decided panels installed. We were also impressed with the company’s A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau.” – Pat S. – Boston

"Our first two bills were approximately $300.00 less than before and our third bill, just received was down about $250.00 from what we were paying! We think it is fantastic!" - William R. - Waltham MA

"They did a wonderful job on my system and I would recommend them to my family and friends!" - Georg S. - Chicopee MA

I cannot express my gratitude for going forward with solar panels. From the initial meeting to discuss the possibility to the techs who eventually installed them. But most of all, it is the savings we have experienced. That first month was unbelievable. Solar plus our other electric source combined was less than our usual monthly expense. During the summer when our electric usage is higher because of the air conditioning, our monthly expense was still less than what we have paid with past summer usage. And if that’s not enough…our present electricity is primarily supplied by the solar panels. We have been building up a reserve with our other electricity source and will be able to draw from that all winter when our panels wont’t generate as much electricity. It’s a win-win situation that we’re just thrilled over. Having a fixed rate locked in is another great feature for savings.” – Virgil T. – Westport MA

About Solar Energy

Solar power is energy from the sun that is transformed into thermal or electrical energy.

Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable resource source available, and the United States has some of the richest solar resources worldwide. Modern innovation can harness this energy for a variety of usages, consisting of producing electricity, supplying light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial usage.

Solar Benefits

Solar power makes it possible for house owners to utilize the sun to power daily life: running your ac system, cleaning clothes, seeing TELEVISION, cooking supper. All while lowering your carbon footprint, and without burning nonrenewable fuel sources or putting a stress on the electrical grid. And while the ecological advantages of solar power are considerable, numerous homeowners discover that the benefit, unique functions, and cost savings of owning a solar power system are a lot more enticing.

Top Ten Benefits of Solar Energy

#1 Considerably decrease or even remove your electrical expenses

Whether you're a property owner, organization, or not-for-profit, electrical power costs can comprise a large portion of your month-to-month costs. With a photovoltaic panel system, you'll generate free power for your system's entire 25+ year lifecycle. Even if you don't produce 100 percent of the energy you take in, solar will minimize your energy costs and you'll still save a great deal of cash.

#2 Make an excellent return on your investment

Photovoltaic panels aren't an expense-- they are among the very best ways to invest, with returns measuring up to those of more conventional investments like stocks and bonds. Thanks to significant electrical energy costs cost savings, the typical American property owner pays off their solar panel system in seven to 8 years and sees an ROI of 20 percent or more.

#3 Protect versus increasing energy expenses

Among the most clear cut benefits of solar panels is the ability to hedge utility rates. In the previous 10 years, domestic electrical energy costs have gone up by an average of 3 percent each year. By investing in a solar energy system now, you can fix your electrical energy rate and protect versus unpredictable boosts in electricity costs. If you're a service or house owner with changing money flow, going solar likewise assists you much better forecast and handle your expenditures.

#4 Increase your house value

Multiple studies have discovered that houses geared up with solar energy systems have higher home worths and sell more rapidly than non-solar houses. Appraisers are significantly taking solar setups into factor to consider as they value homes at the time of a sale, and as property buyers end up being more educated about solar, need for homes equipped with photovoltaic panel systems will continue to grow.

#5 Boost U.S. energy independence

The sun is a near-infinite source of energy and a key part of achieving energy self-reliance in the United States. By increasing our capacity to generate electrical energy from the sun, we can also insulate our country from price variations in worldwide energy markets.

#6 Develop jobs and help your regional economy

According to The Solar Structure, the solar market added tasks at a rate nearly 12 times faster than the general U.S. economy in 2015, representing 1.2 percent of all tasks in the country. This growth is anticipated to continue. Due to the fact that solar-related tasks tend to be higher paying and can not be outsourced, they are a significant contributor to the U.S. economy.

#7 Protect the environment

Solar is an excellent method to minimize your carbon footprint. Structures are accountable for 38 percent of all carbon emissions in the U.S., and going solar can substantially reduce that number. A common domestic photovoltaic panel system will get rid of three to 4 lots of carbon emissions each year-- the equivalent of planting over 100 trees every year.

#8 Show your commitment to sustainability

Sustainability and corporate social duty are very important elements of an organization's culture and worths. They also produce bottom line outcomes. Significantly, customers and communities are acknowledging and rewarding companies that choose to run properly. Organisations are finding that "green" credentials are a powerful chauffeur of consumer getting choices, developing goodwill and improving organisation results.

#9 Start Saving from Day 1

Solar purchase power agreements (PPAs) and solar leasing has actually made it possible for property owners to go solar for little or no money down.

Numerous house owners choose to fund their solar panels with among the "pay-as-you-go" funding choices. This means that a third-party business-- the solar company-- owns the solar system and takes care of setup, upkeep, tracking and repairs. You merely pay the solar provider for electricity-- less than you would've paid the energy company.

Since June 2013, 75% of all American houses have access to pay-as-you-go solar.

#10. Solar is a Secure Financial investment

The energy business are notorious for their changing and unreliable electrical energy prices. There is plainly an upward trend.

With solar panels and easy mathematics, we can compute just how much electricity will be created, and most significantly, at exactly what price, for a minimum of the next Twenty Years (repaired energy expenses).

How Do Solar Cells Conduct Electricity?

Part of the going green movement encourages the use of alternative energy sources in place of traditional nonrenewable fossil fuels. One of the most recognizable sources of alternative energy is the use of solar power to generate electricity. While most people understand that solar panels are responsible for capturing the sun's energy, they may not understand how electricity is produced. Solar panels are composed of solar cells, which are responsible for converting sunlight to electricity.

Solar cells are primarily composed of silicon materials, which act as a semiconductor. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, solar cells may be single-crystal, polycrystalline or amorphous silicon, and their composition determines their efficiency in conducting electricity. The silicon material is arranged in two thin layers, which are categorized as the phosphorus-treated N-layer or the boron-treated P-layer. The N-layer and P-layer are composed of positively charged protons and negatively charged electrons joined by an electric field called the P-N junction.

To produce electricity, solar cells must first be equipped to capture sunlight. According to the Florida Solar Energy Center, a typical solar cell can only produce .5 to .6 volts of direct current at a time. For this reason, solar cells are arranged in solar panels, which can conduct electricity on a larger scale. Arranged in these solar panels, solar cells are then more easily able to absorb sunlight, which is composed of particles of solar energy known as photons.

Photons must be absorbed by the solar cell to produce electricity. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, as the photons are absorbed, electrons within the semiconductor material become displaced. The electrical field that joins the N- and P-layers attracts these loose electrons to the front surface of the solar cell. As the electrons accumulate, this creates an imbalance within the cell with the positive and negative charge at opposite ends. When an external circuit is used to join the positive and negative charges, electricity is created.

The electricity produced by solar cells can be used to power residences, homes or other structures. In its raw state, solar electricity exists as direct current or DC power. To be used safely, it must be converted to an alternating current or AC power. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, this process occurs by routing the direct current to an inverter, which is directly connected to your home or business's breaker panel. The inverter switches the electricity from DC to AC and redirects it to the breaker.

Solar cells vary in terms of their efficiency at converting sunlight to electricity, and weather conditions can negatively affect this efficiency. Clouds, rain or fog can significantly diminish their capacity to produce electricity. Solar cell electric systems can also be very expensive to install and maintain, although the Union of Concerned Scientists notes that these costs are expected to decrease as the demand for solar energy becomes more widespread. Why Didn'T Spirit Have Blades To Clean The Solar Panels?
At One Point, Spirit'S Solar Panels Were Covered With Dust Which Hindered Their Ability To Rechage Spirit'S Batteries. It Was Only The Fortunate Passing Of A Dust Devil That Removed This Dust. My Question Is, Why Didn'T The Designers Design Some Kind Of 'Wiper Blade' To Remove The Dust? Was There Some 'Design Philosophy' Reason, Or Did It Just Not Occur To The Designers? Thanks

Two reasons. Spirit was only designed to last 90 days. Cleaning of the panels was not needed to meet this design criteria. The other reason is that every ounce of weight is counted on spacecraft. You can only carry so much mass to Mars. So in order to add a mechanism to clean the panels, you would have had to leave something else off. The science equipment was considered more important.

Later rovers will be nuclear powered, so they won't have this problem.

Can I Run My House Power At Night On A 45 Watt Solar Panel And A Few Deep Cycle Batteries?
I Want To See If I Can Offset My Electric Bill By Running My Electricity, At Night Only (While We Sleep), On A 45 Watt Solar Panel And 2 Or 3 Batteries. How Can I Figure Out How Many Watt Panels And How Many Batteries I Need In Order To Do So. It Would Run, Refrigerator, Night Lights, 3 Ceiling Fans, Window Fan, Any Other Appliance Plugged In Like Microwave Clock, Tv And Other Such Things But Not Turned On (If That Makes Sense). I Don'T Want To Run My Electric Strictly On Solar During The Day But When The Electrical Usage Is Consumed The Least (At Night). What Do You Think?

You did not say what the voltage out of the solar panel happens to be.
Probably only 13 volts at best. What you want to try, is to go to the auto parts store and buy a 12 volt trouble light made to work under the hood of a car.
That one solar panel will charge one battery. Connect the trouble light to the battery at night and see how long it lasts. Do it again every night for a week and see how it goes.
Try the trouble light on the solar panel in the day time, without the battery, and get a better idea of what the panel is realy capable of doing for you all by itself. Then you see for yourself the answers you're after.
