Each of these alternative methods of producing useful energy is good in it's own way. There is no single source that can solve all our energy needs. All of these and more sources of energy will need to be improved dramatically over the next few decades.

Water running down hill has been a very useful source of energy for a long time. I believe the early Egyptians used it thousands of years ago. When one is close to a source of running water like a river or stream this can be a very good source of energy. The Earth's population is not distributed equivalently near such sources and such sources are limited in the energy content available.

Bio Fuel has been used even longer than moving water. Unlike petroleum based fuels Bio Fuels the generation of Bio Fuels removes as much CO2 from the air as it eventually reintroduces. Until recently Bio Fuels have been in solid form. Liquid forms of Bio Fuel are more easily made to replace the petroleum based fuels that we currently use in vehicles than solid forms. The focus on liquid Bio Fuels has resulted in the use of land that would otherwise be used to produce food.

Wind and Solar energy conversion technologies are not always available and therefore must be used in new ways either in conjunction with other sources or through the use of new methods of storing energy for later uses. Neither of these methods of making useful energy available contributes to the excess CO2 problems we are currently experiencing.

No, there is no such thing, yet.

Right now, solar panels (while cool, and eco friendly and all...) are not "great" at generating power. What I mean is, solar panels do create "free" electricity, it's only a little bit of electricity. It doesn't take very much power to run a small fan that sucks hot air out of the car.

But an air conditioner compressor (the thing that cools the air) takes a LOT of power compared to a fan. So you would need a very large (larger than the car) grouping (array) of solar panels to create enough power to run an air conditioner.

You could buy an electric air conditioner, run it off batteries (put 6 or so in the trunk) and charge the batteries with a solar array while the car was parked. Something like 100 hours of sunlight should give you 2 or 3 hours of air conditioning. Of course, the cost would be closer to the $3000 you don't want to spend.

Sorry there's not (yet) a super efficient solar panel available that can turn 5 minutes of sun into enough power to run a car, plus air conditioning all day.

Globalization, or even regionalization of governments { read suggested North American Union} is not the answer for a prosperous economy. Governmental reorganization will not solve our economic problems that are rooted in our dependence on oil from foriegn sources, only a zealous enegy policy will do that with a goal of energy independence within 5 years, in increments of 20% additional each year!!!!!

We need to be concerned about Human Rights here in the United State both here and abroad. While Human Rights Organizations commonly focus on the obvious and blatant violations of human rights around the world, there are other lesser publicised violations that occur even in the United State of America every day. As only one example I will site is the denial of housing for prospective tenants by landlords, just because they choose to do so because it is their property!!!! With regard to our infrastructure, a little bit of painting would do wonders to keep bridges from rusting, as well as other more tecnologially advanced magterials that could be use to inhibit rusting and weakining of bridges. The temperature of roads should be kept at above 40 degrees to prevent snow and ice and automobile accidents caused thereby. This could be done in a manner similar to a rear window car defroster, with the power supplied by new alternative energy such as wind power. Indeed wind power may be the ideal choice to defrost roads in a winter blizzard!!!!

There are other techologial possibilities such as fuel cells that could stand ready to be in use in case they were needed to defrost roads.

Most religions presume that the universe had a beginning through a process of creation. But what is creation? If I collect a stone from the street and show it as my creation, you would laugh at me. Suppose, I carve a beautiful form out of that stone, immediately you will admire it as a creation. How did a simple stone, which was not considered a creation, now turn out to be a beautiful creation? What I brought out of the basic matter, stone, is an ordered state not a random state. To create and maintain order, work has to be done. Thermodynamically, nature moves to a chaotic state to lower its energy; i.e. increase its entropy. So while a small region can become more ordered, overall the finite isolated system or universe has to become more chaotic.

Now look at the observable Universe, examination reveals that it is a well ordered and regulated system. Look at the structure of an atom, a molecule, a crystal, a solar system. Surely such a well behaved, ordered system cannot happen by accident or as the result of random events. Hence religions say the universe has to be a creation, just as the form carved out of stone has to be a creation. There has to be something behind the creation. That something must have all the wisdom (knowledge and skills) needed to create this entire universe. All theologies call that something GOD.

Any creation involves two factors an intelligent cause and a material cause. For me to create a form, even if I have the knowledge, I must have some material. In my case, I could go out and collect a stone from the street. Similarly the intelligent cause, God, to create this entire universe needs some material. He does not have the luxury to go out and get the material for his creation as that would only be a partial creation. He therefore has to create the material too, out of himself. It is a peculiar creation wherein the two causes – the material cause and the intelligent cause have to be one and the same. The muNDaka upaniShad gives an analogy: The spider projects the material for the creation of its web; it is the material cause for the creation, and the intelligence to create the web rests with the spider too. Thus the material cause and the intelligent cause for the spider’s web are one and the same.

What is the size of this universe? Creation has to be infinite (an open system). If it were finite (a closed system), a boundary defining the universe would have to separate it from something else. Then, where did that come from? It has to be created too. Therefore it implies that creation has to be boundless or infinite, no inside or outside. So where is the creator now, after creating the Universe? The creator cannot be inside or outside the creation as it is infinite. He cannot be a part of creation either because He would then be limited by creation like all other parts and therefore not the creator. The only alternative is that He and the creation are one. Not only is He the material and intelligent cause, it also follows that he is inseparable from the creation. If the creation is infinite, He has to be infinite too. Hence, He pervades the entire universe, both inside (referring to the mind) as well as outside (referring to the body and the world).

Normally the intelligent cause (wisdom) can only be an active entity while the material cause can only be a passive entity. In the case of the Universe both causes rest in one, just as in the creation of a spider’s web, both the intelligent and the material causes are one, the spider. But in the case of a spider, the web becomes separate from the spider. In the case of the Universe the creator cannot be separated from the creation, creator and creation are not two (advaita). In other words the intelligence is the material, the material is the intelligence. The Universe, Brahman is Self-arising wisdom.
