About Solar Energy
Solar power is energy from the sun that is transformed into thermal or electrical energy.
Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable resource source available, and the United States has some of the richest solar resources worldwide. Modern innovation can harness this energy for a variety of usages, consisting of producing electricity, supplying light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial usage.
Solar power makes it possible for property owner to use the sun to power daily life: running your air conditioning system, washing clothes, seeing TV, cooking dinner. All while decreasing your carbon footprint, and without burning nonrenewable fuel sources or putting a strain on the electrical grid. And while the environmental benefits of solar power are considerable, lots of home owners find that the benefit, special functions, and expense savings of owning a solar power system are much more attractive.
Leading Advantages of Solar Energy
#1 Drastically minimize or even remove your electrical costs
Whether you're a homeowner, service, or nonprofit, electricity costs can comprise a large part of your regular monthly costs. With a solar panel system, you'll create totally free power for your system's whole 25+ year lifecycle. Even if you do not produce One Hundred Percent of the energy you take in, solar will decrease your energy bills and you'll still save a great deal of money.
#2 Make a great return on your investment
Photovoltaic panels aren't an expenditure-- they are among the finest methods to invest, with returns equaling those of more standard investments like stocks and bonds. Thanks to significant electrical energy bill cost savings, the typical American house owner pays off their photovoltaic panel system in seven to 8 years and sees an ROI of 20 percent or more.
#3 Safeguard versus rising energy costs
One of the most clear cut benefits of photovoltaic panels is the capability to hedge energy rates. In the previous 10 years, domestic electrical power prices have gone up by an average of three percent annually. By investing in a solar energy system now, you can repair your electrical power rate and protect versus unpredictable increases in electrical power expenses. If you're an organisation or homeowner with fluctuating cash flow, going solar likewise assists you better projection and manage your expenses.
#4 Boost your property worth
Multiple studies have actually found that houses equipped with solar energy systems have higher property values and offer faster than non-solar houses. Appraisers are significantly taking solar installations into consideration as they value houses at the time of a sale, and as property buyers end up being more informed about solar, demand for homes geared up with photovoltaic panel systems will continue to grow.
#5 Increase U.S. energy independence
The sun is a near-infinite source of energy and a crucial element of achieving energy self-reliance in the United States. By increasing our capability to generate electrical energy from the sun, we can also insulate our nation from price changes in global energy markets.
#6 Develop jobs and help your regional economy
Inning accordance with The Solar Structure, the solar industry added tasks at a rate nearly 12 times faster than the general U.S. economy in 2015, representing 1.2 percent of all tasks in the country. This growth is expected to continue. Because solar-related tasks have the tendency to be greater paying and can not be contracted out, they are a considerable factor to the United States economy.
#7 Secure the environment
Solar is a fantastic method to reduce your carbon footprint. Structures are accountable for 38 percent of all carbon emissions in the U.S., and going solar can considerably reduce that number. A typical domestic photovoltaic panel system will eliminate 3 to four lots of carbon emissions each year-- the equivalent of planting over 100 trees annually.
#8 Show your commitment to sustainability
Sustainability and corporate social duty are very important components of a company's culture and worths. They likewise produce bottom line results. Increasingly, customers and neighborhoods are acknowledging and rewarding organisations that select to run properly. Businesses are finding that "green" credentials are an effective motorist of consumer acquiring decisions, creating goodwill and enhancing organisation results.
#9 Start Saving from Day 1
Solar purchase power agreements (PPAs) and solar leasing has made it possible for homeowners to go solar for little or no cash down.
Numerous house owners pick to finance their solar panels with among the "pay-as-you-go" funding choices. This means that a third-party company-- the solar service provider-- owns the planetary system and looks after installation, maintenance, tracking and repair works. You simply pay the solar supplier for electricity-- less than you would've paid the energy business.
As of June 2013, 75% of all American houses have access to pay-as-you-go solar.
#10. Solar is a Secure Investment
The energy companies are notorious for their varying and unreliable electrical power costs. There is clearly an upward pattern.
With solar panels and simple math, we can compute how much electrical power will be generated, and most significantly, at exactly what rate, for at least the next 20 years (repaired energy expenses).
What are the various payment options?
We have many flexible purchasing agreements for customers who would like to install a new home solar system. There are three different payment options, making them a viable choice for customers of all budgets. The payment options include Lease, PPA, and Purchase.
- Low, fixed payments each month
- System insurance for 20 years, including maintenance
- Flexible end-of-term options, including system upgrade, lease extension, and free panel removal
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
- We own the solar panel system
- $0 down for installation
- Customers only pay for the solar energy that they use
- Customer pays for the system upfront and owns the system
- System monitoring and maintenance for 20 years
- Receive 30% federal tax credit
- See a return on investment within 7-10 years
What happens when the contract for my lease is finished?
We provide our customers with a few different options for when their lease contract is up. Customers can upgrade their equipment to the newest solar technology available, extend the agreement, or have the panels removed at no cost.
What is the warranty?
The Lease and PPA include a 20-year warranty during the lifetime of the system. This warranty exceeds that of most other solar installers’ warranties.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should Global Warming/Climate Change Advocates Be Outraged About Selling Excess Energy Created By Solar Panels Back To The Grid?
In reality they should pay back tax payers who subsidize it in the first place.
Will My Off The Shelf Deep Cycle Battery I Purchased At Autozone Work Well With Solar Panels?
I Need To Build A Battery Array To Use With My Solar Panels I Just Bought. I Want To Be Able To Store Enough Energy To Be Draw From It At Night, Possibly Around The Clock. Is There A Down Side To Using The Deep Cycle Battery I Bought From Autozone And 6 Or 7 More Just Like It, Or Do I Need To Get Some Other Battery?
There are batteries particularly made for solar, such as the Trojan T105-RE . I think the RE stands for "renewable energy".
A deep cycle battery should work all right, although not quite as well.
What you want to do is try out your setup first, with just one battery, and the panels provided. If this is one of those "45 watt" kits, you may be surprised at how little energy you actually get from the panels. Increasing the number of batteries won't help, either - that's like getting a larger water tank, when you only have a trickle to fill it.
If your goal is really to save money, the most cost-effective solar is the grid-tied type, with no batteries at all. That's what we have, and I've never regretted it.
Why Are We Not Using Solar Panels To Power Everyone'S Home Or Apartment Complex?
There are a few reasons, one is the energy companies don't want us to make our own energy or they will lose revenue, so there is a lot of money being spent to misinform the public, get fossil fuel friendly candidates elected and even more money lobbying in DC and states to squash any bills that would benefit the solar industry.
Another is they aren't practical in all regions, yes you can produce some energy in some of the Northern states, but wind may be a far more practical clean solution.
People aren't willing to make the investment, because we are a transient society. For the past few decades we have moved away from actual home ownership, instead we mortgage a home and move several times. People often won't be in a home long enough to get a return on investment, so there isn't a financial incentive to spend the money upfront.
I personally have a solar PV system, but I will be in my home till I can't live on my own any longer. I was estimated to break even at 7.2 years. It will be sooner since my city raised our rates 20% the year after I had my system installed.
How Does A 30 Watt Solar Panel Power Up Things?
How Does A Solar Panel From Canadian Tire Work
A solar panel works by turning sunlight into electricity. At most 30 watts isn't much, and you get nothing at night and when there's not much sun.
Usually what you'd do is hook a whole bunch of these up to a lot of batteries to charge them, and use an inverter to convert the battery power into 110 VAC power.
This isn't cheap.
Libs Rant About &Quot;Green Energy&Quot;. Do They Have A Clue How Many Wind Farms And Solar Panels It Would Take To?
Replace Coal, Much Less Coal And Oil???
Never Mind That Solar Works Only When The Sun Shines And Wind Turbines Only Work When The Wind Blows, And That There Is No Way To Effectively Store Large Amounts Of Electricity....
Common sense dictates that we will never be entirely dependent upon alternative energy sources. It also dictates that we do not have an infinite supply of fossil fuels. At our current rate of demand, we will eventually find ourselves in a shortage situation. Nobody should want to see that. For me it's not so much a matter of being 'green' and saving the planet. I'm not that arrogant. I just think we do need to work toward finding an affordable happy medium between 'green' technology and fossil fuels. For example, I would install solar panels in a heartbeat if it was affordable to do so and I knew my power bill would all but disappear. That would both save on fossil fuels and provide me with cheap energy. It's something that people on all sides of the political spectrum should be willing to rally around, even if the motivation isn't the same for all.
