Nuclear also boils water into steam to run a generator, but instead of using the suns heat, or burning coal or oil, they actually contain a nuclear reaction, much like an a bomb, inside a small building and contain the heat to make the steam. Wind is the simplist, when the wind blows on a propeller, it turns a generator inside the housing on top of the tower.

since the sun does fusion, neither. but since that's just a silly answer, i will say something a tad smarter. i think, for now, solar power is best because it's possible to produce on a larger scale. People have not figured out how to produce fusion power on a large scale. but once they do, that would be great because fusion won't create any pollution or radioactive waste. (and it's not like solar energy where it's not always available at different places and times of day.)

To give you an example, solar works great in the midwest in the summer, and in the southwest in the winter. Wiind works best in the midwest in the winter, but not so good in the Pacific Northwest most of the year. Most of these items are complimentary in season, meaning one works great one time of the year, and another a different time. Our home is a classic example. We have both wind and solar here, but most of the summer our wind turbine is shut down because it isn't needed. The solar in the upper midwest is fantastic from May through September. In the fall and winter, the days grow short, but the wind grows long, so wind becomes our primary source then. What you need to do is decide what resources you have and what you are willing to do to access them before you select a technology.
