Standard window glass (which I assume you want to use) loses light through both absorption and reflection.  It also retains heat.  Silicon PV panels use special low-iron glass (without the green tinge) to minimize absorption, and some have anti-reflective coatings.  They also lose output as the temperature goes up, and a window in front will retain heat.

If your panel is behind a window with panes, it may suffer a serious loss of output due to selective shading of some cells in a string (the panel needs all cells in light to produce electricity).

So yes and no.  You can put a solar panel behind a window and it will work, but not as well (perhaps very poorly); how much you lose depends on the particulars.

I'Ve Been Reading People Been Having Problems With Ice On There Solar Panels. Then I Got A Thought Would It Be A Good Idea To Put A Heated Window On Top Of The Solar Panel. I Do Know That A Window Does Nothing To The Actual Consumption Of The Solar Panel But Would The Heating Strips Do Damage Of Any Kind. Heating elements take lots of power, the power loss to heating elements would be more than the power lost to some snow cover.

The waste products are the panels themselves as they age. Their lifespan is 10-25 years, depending on the panel, and any damage it receives during its lifetime.

Most of the products in the panels can be recycled. There are getting to be more plastics and vinyl used in the manufacture of the panels. Sometimes the plastics and vinyls are not easy to get recycled.

The biggest waste product however would be if the solar panels are used to generate electricity, and not just warm/hot water. If the panels generate electric, batteries are used to store the power in. The batteries are of course highly toxic. The batteries can also be recycled. They are filled with lead, and acid. Very bad for the environment if just dumped somewhere.

There are 4 components:

1. Solar panels - This is the bulk of the cost. There are many companies and the prices can vary. Just make sure your panels are UL Listed and have a 20-25 year warranty. They come in different sizes, from 175w to 280w. The main thing you should focus on is the price per watt. Then you can decide which specific panels you should go with.

2. Inverter - The inverter converts the DC electricity from the panels into AC electricity for your home. There are maybe 4-5 main companies. Warranties are typically 10 years but can go up to 20 years with warranty extensions.

3. Mountings - The mountings hold the panels into the roof. If you are penetrating the roof make sure to use flashings. In addition, you should use stand-offs so the panels are at least 3 inches away from the roof. This helps for air circulation and helps electric production. There are many types of mountings with different pricing. Some are more expensive and less labor intensive.

4. Wiring & Meter - This is more generic. The wiring connects everything together and the meter keeps track of the production. Depending on your area, the utility company might mandate the meters to specs or models.
