If you want more light to do some work a fluorescent light powered by an inverter would be best. How long such a light will operate from the battery/inverter will depend upon a number of factors including your expected usage. I would guess that you could get several hours of continuous use one or two times per week. If you use additional power to operate some small tools or chargers than you would reduce your lighted operating hours. This is not a problem for some occasional tinkering in the shed for limited periods of time.
If you want to charge tools and operate the chargers unattended this system will not be capable of meeting your expectations. This is because you would be using an inverter 24/7 to operate the home chargers. You would have to manage the charging by turning the inverter on/off to allow the car battery to charge back up. Its certainly do'able if you don't mind making a trip back and forth to the shed to start/stop the system to charge tool batteries.
If you want unattended charging of electric tools then its best to use the stored charge in a battery to charge the power tools directly without the need for an inverter. Batteries are charged with DC at a voltage slightly higher than their voltage rating. By direct charging you avoid the losses associated with the conversion of DC to AC to operate a charge that converts AC back into DC.
So if you have low voltage electric tools like a 9.6V drill you can avoid the need to operate an inverter by having a small solar cell charge that battery directly or use the 12VDC to charge the 9.6V battery through a small resistor to limit the current.
Rather than an overhead cable you can bury a cable or PVC conduit and power the shed with 120AC. You can easily supply 15 to 30A of 120V AC that supply all of your power needs without the issues and limitations of the Solar system. If your shed is within 200 ft of your home you should be able to power the shed for less than $400 if you do the work.
