About Solar Energy
Solar power is energy from the sun that is transformed into thermal or electrical energy.
Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable resource source available, and the United States has some of the richest solar resources worldwide. Modern innovation can harness this energy for a variety of usages, consisting of producing electricity, supplying light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial usage.
Solar power makes it possible for resident to utilize the sun to power everyday life: running your a/c unit, washing clothes, enjoying TELEVISION, cooking supper. All while reducing your carbon footprint, and without burning fossil fuels or putting a strain on the electrical grid. And while the ecological advantages of solar power are substantial, many property owners discover that the convenience, distinct features, and cost savings of owning a solar power system are a lot more attractive.
Top 10 Advantages of Solar Energy
#1 Dramatically reduce or perhaps eliminate your electrical expenses
Whether you're a house owner, organization, or not-for-profit, electrical energy expenses can make up a big part of your monthly costs. With a solar panel system, you'll create totally free power for your system's entire 25+ year lifecycle. Even if you do not produce 100 percent of the energy you take in, solar will minimize your energy costs and you'll still save a lot of money.
#2 Earn a fantastic return on your financial investment
Photovoltaic panels aren't an expenditure-- they're one of the finest ways to invest, with returns matching those of more standard investments like stocks and bonds. Thanks to considerable electricity expense cost savings, the typical American property owner pays off their photovoltaic panel system in 7 to 8 years and sees an ROI of 20 percent or more.
#3 Safeguard versus increasing energy expenses
One of the most clear cut advantages of solar panels is the capability to hedge energy rates. In the past 10 years, residential electricity prices have actually increased by approximately three percent every year. By investing in a solar energy system now, you can repair your electrical energy rate and protect against unpredictable boosts in electrical energy costs. If you're an organisation or house owner with ever-changing capital, going solar likewise assists you better projection and handle your expenses.
#4 Increase your home worth
Several research studies have found that homes equipped with solar energy systems have greater home values and sell more rapidly than non-solar houses. Appraisers are significantly taking solar setups into factor to consider as they value houses at the time of a sale, and as homebuyers end up being more educated about solar, demand for residential or commercial properties geared up with photovoltaic panel systems will continue to grow.
#5 Increase U.S. energy independence
The sun is a near-infinite source of energy and a crucial part of attaining energy self-reliance in the United States. By increasing our capability to produce electricity from the sun, we can likewise insulate our country from rate changes in worldwide energy markets.
#6 Create jobs and assist your local economy
According to The Solar Structure, the solar market added tasks at a rate nearly 12 times faster than the general U.S. economy in 2015, representing 1.2 percent of all tasks in the nation. This growth is expected to continue. Because solar-related jobs have the tendency to be greater paying and can not be outsourced, they are a significant factor to the U.S. economy.
#7 Safeguard the environment
Solar is an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint. Buildings are accountable for 38 percent of all carbon emissions in the United States, and going solar can considerably reduce that number. A normal domestic solar panel system will remove 3 to 4 heaps of carbon emissions each year-- the equivalent of planting over 100 trees annually.
#8 Show your commitment to sustainability
Sustainability and business social duty are very important components of an organization's culture and worths. They also produce bottom line outcomes. Increasingly, consumers and communities are acknowledging and rewarding organisations that choose to run properly. Organisations are discovering that "green" credentials are an effective driver of consumer getting decisions, producing goodwill and enhancing service outcomes.
#9 Start Saving from Day 1
Solar purchase power arrangements (PPAs) and solar leasing has made it possible for house owners to go solar for little or no loan down.
Many homeowners opt to finance their photovoltaic panels with among the "pay-as-you-go" funding choices. This indicates that a third-party company-- the solar provider-- owns the planetary system and takes care of installation, maintenance, monitoring and repair works. You just pay the solar company for electrical energy-- less than you would've paid the utility company.
Since June 2013, 75% of all American houses have access to pay-as-you-go solar.
#10. Solar is a Secure Financial investment
The utility companies are infamous for their fluctuating and unreliable electrical power rates. There is clearly an upward trend.
With solar panels and simple mathematics, we can determine what does it cost? electrical energy will be created, and most significantly, at what price, for a minimum of the next Twenty Years (fixed energy costs).
What are the various payment options?
We have many flexible purchasing agreements for customers who would like to install a new home solar system. There are three different payment options, making them a viable choice for customers of all budgets. The payment options include Lease, PPA, and Purchase.
- Low, fixed payments each month
- System insurance for 20 years, including maintenance
- Flexible end-of-term options, including system upgrade, lease extension, and free panel removal
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
- We own the solar panel system
- $0 down for installation
- Customers only pay for the solar energy that they use
- Customer pays for the system upfront and owns the system
- System monitoring and maintenance for 20 years
- Receive 30% federal tax credit
- See a return on investment within 7-10 years
What happens when the contract for my lease is finished?
We provide our customers with a few different options for when their lease contract is up. Customers can upgrade their equipment to the newest solar technology available, extend the agreement, or have the panels removed at no cost.
What is the warranty?
The Lease and PPA include a 20-year warranty during the lifetime of the system. This warranty exceeds that of most other solar installers’ warranties.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do We Stop Global Warming?
How Do We Decrease Or Stop Global Warming When To Run Windows Vista Unltimate And Directx 10 Video Cards We Need At Least 650Watts Power Supply? Whos At Fault?
I think the problem is beyond a few cards kiddo.
We must become more conscious of the effects of our actions on the world. Making responsible decisions is what it is all about. In Europe the latest fad is about the size of your footprints on the planet. It is almost a game there it is so popular.
Here are a few really basic common sense ideas for you. Dump your SUV and get a hydrogen run vehicle. Run your dishwasher only when it's full, replace air-conditioning and furnace air filters regularly, and adjust your thermostat to a little warmer in summer and a little cooler in winter. You can also set your water heater to no higher than 120 degrees (F); it saves money and is safer. Try low-flow shower heads to use less hot water and wash clothes in cold water. Most detergents today clean just as well in cooler temperatures. Use energy efficient light bulbs. Improve your home insulation. And seal up all the cracks. And my favourite, shower with friends. LOL.
Since all of these save electricity, they save not only resources, but also money for you. It just makes sense.
For you fools who deny the truth of global warming, here are a few facts for you. By the way, they also include some solutions to help east the problems, although there is so much more to do. Saying you do not believe in something does not make it any less real!
Big Business is beginning to look at global warming through eyes blinded by dollar signs. Climate change is replacing tech and bio tech as the major investment theme of the future. Wall Street's analysts are devising ways to cash in on weather.
Discussions have changed to talk of what a 1-degree rise each year in temperature would do to profits. Global warming is becoming a major market-moving force that represents a generational shift likely to influence how people invest for decades. The world's biggest financial services firms are investing massive amounts of time and brainpower trying to pinpoint what stocks and sectors will benefit or be hurt by Global warming.
There are at least 74 companies in 18 countries that can profit from changing weather patterns. Global warming will change world economy. There is a company in California which manages the largest pension plan in America that has committed $800 M to invest in clean technology. At this time 90% of global warming is the result of human activity.
Temperatures around the globe could raise 2 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. This will result in more intense heat waves, stronger tropical storms and a rise in sea levels that will swamp low-lying cities and farmland. When I was boating through rice fields in India last summer I wondered how these people would survive even a few inches rise in water. Most of the farmers live at sea level.
Corn will be used to create ethanol. The technology is already in use. If corn is used to provide even 10% of the nation’s automotive needs, it would use 35% of America’s corn crop.
Since 25% of all food prices are affected by the cost of corn, we could face a corn vs. food situation. Farm leftovers can be used to create cellulosic ethanol for fuel. Farm equipment companies should do well because farmers will be rethinking harvesting techniques. They will also retool their machines for the new fuels. Monsanto is working on creating more drought resistant crops.
Energy conversion devices and sun power are becoming buzz words. Windmills. Fuel cells. Solar panels. Several companies are developing types of clean solar panels with the hope of rivaling oil and coal, deemed "dirty" fuels. Eco technology is still too mature to make a lot of money. Solar will only create a tenth of the world’s energy. Technology that makes dirty energy sources like coal and oil cleaner. There will be more money made on the dirty stuff. Nuclear power generators are also on the rise. The new nuclear energy is much cleaner and produces no carbon.
Ethanol, hydrogen, clean diesel, bio diesel fuels hold promise for the future. Hybrid cars are the way of the future. The major car manufacturers are working on increased efficiency. Investing in hybrid vehicles and components and batteries etc will be good investments. Automotive builders are striving to outdo each other in these fields. "Smart cars" are popping up everywhere.
The insurance industry will change incredibly. So many energy and utility companies will all have to face different challenges due to the effects of weather. Suddenly they realize climate and profits are closely related. Investors will start to lean more toward green investments. This movement has been spreading for a decade.
I also think security and protection companies might do well because the displacement of people and shortages could result in an increase in crime.
The world's demand for energy is accelerating as China and India grow. Heavy construction and engineering companies that build power plants will do well. The smart ones will build ecologically sensitive plants will steal market share. They will find ways to make plants more efficient and cleaner. One technology, clean coal, puts devices in smokestacks that pull the carbon out of the exhaust and plow it back into the soil.
After Hurricane Katrina, folks are rethinking the option of coastal real estate. People will develop an aversion to locations on the water and severe-weather-prone areas. People will flee Florida for the Smokey Mountains for example. This covers Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. This is already happening. Thousands have begun the process of relocating to higher ground. The high insurance premiums for living near the water will affect property values.
Small parts and components that go into everything from washers and dryers to fighter jets and elevators could play a gigantic factor in curbing energy use. We already have the technology to reduce the world's power use by 30% overnight. About 11% of the savings could be achieved with efficient electric motors inside washing machines, conveyor belts and other motors that use half the energy of older technology. Another 11% could be saved in transportation using hybrids. The last 8% can be saved with energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs. Currently businesses that focus on energy efficiency are already becoming more profitable.
The wealthier nations are in better condition to deal with these things. It is the poorer nations that will have serious difficulties. Holland could just disappear. A great deal of landmass will also be lost, which will drive up the cost of real estate everywhere.
That is how America sees the future according to Global Warming. In its usual entrepreneurial way, Americans see the silver lining of this problem as an opportunity for positive change and innovative growth. This is all fact, kids. You know corporations do not make such changes without a good reason.
Although global warming is a problem today, there is an equally huge problem that governments do not want their citizens to know about and keep all information suppressed. If this particular topic is not addressed, we will face changes on the planet more deeply embedded not in nature but from within our bodies.
I speak of Depleted uranium and its effects on the human race and all other living things on the planet. If the environment of earth is ill humanity becomes ill. Our health depends upon its health. The environment is the world around us, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the soil in which we grow our foods. It is exciting to see individuals begin to take responsibility for their footsteps upon the planet even if the movement was only taken seriously once Global Warming began to hurt big business. There are all sorts of wonderful initiatives out there.
However, we can pretty things up, cut down on carbons and become more eco friendly but all of these accomplishments will mean nothing if we do not get to the invisible pollutions that are becoming harder and harder to escape. I am not trying to denigrate these wonderful actions people are taking. We have to begin somewhere and global warming is as good a place as anywhere.
n April of 2003, the World Health Organization said they expect global cancer rates to increase 50 percent by the year 2020. Infant mortality is going up at appalling rates all over the world, an indicator of the level of radioactive pollution. Basically, it’s like smoking radioactive crack. It goes straight into the blood stream and is carried all throughout the body into the bones, the bone marrow, and the brain. It goes into the fetus and corrupts its development. It’s a systemic and a radiological poison.
Winds carry this radioactive dust several miles, contaminating the air and water that innocent humans breathe and drink. These munitions were used in both Iraq wars, Kosovo, and training sessions in Puerto Rico. We have huge dust storms that are a million square miles and transport millions of tons of dust and sand every year around the world.
The main centers of these dust storms are the Gobi Desert in China, which is where the Chinese did atmospheric testing, so that’s all contaminated with radiation, and it gets transported right over Japan. It then comes straight across the Pacific and dumps its sand and dust in North America. The stuff is loaded with radioactive isotopes, soot, pesticides, chemicals, pollution — everything is in it — fungi, bacteria, viruses.
The Sahara Desert is another huge dust center, and it goes up all over Europe and straight across the Atlantic, to the Caribbean, and up the East Coast. Of course, you get it in Texas with those hurricanes. They all originate in the Sahara Desert.
The third region is the Western United States, which is where the Nevada test site is located.
Concentration of the depleted uranium particles in the atmosphere all around the globe is increasing. There are indications that the U.S. will go in June and bomb the heck out of Iran. U.S. Army ammunition factories have very large orders for those huge bunker buster bombs that have 5,000 tons of DU in the warhead.
Hold your politicians accountable. For both this crime against humanity as well as implementing stronger controls on factors contributing to Global warming. Both of these horrible threats must be dealt with immediately if our grandchildren are to have a planet to live on.
IN A TIME OF DECEIT, TELLING THE TRUTH IS AN ACT OF REVOLUTION!
Infra-Red Solar Panels?
I Am Told There Are Night Vision Goggles To See At Night Due To Invisible Light Still Hitting Earth. I Am Also Told That There Are Other Beams, X-Rays Etc Hitting Earth.
Why Couldn'T They Invent A Solar Panel With Dual Power In The Day?
It Could Harness Both Visible And Invisible Light, And At Night Be Single?
Anyone Know Why They Can'T Make An Invisible Light Solar Panel?
Is This Possible?
What Happens If Future Cars Have Night Vision Windshields Instead Of Lights?
They are actually working on building photovoltaic panels (Photovoltaic is actually the correct term for sunlight-->electricity. Ordinary solar panels are those that use sunlight to heat water) that harness a larger range of wavelengths. From what I can gather the problem is either finding a material that absorbs more wavelengths, or finding a way to get multiple materials to coexist in a single panel. This situation will no doubt improve over time as new things like Nanotechnology give us the ability to create much more complex substances designed at the molecular level for light capture.
Panels that can harness a wider range of the spectrum do exist, but the technology is in its infancy, and therefore expensive and not widely known. This isn't too surprising when you consider that Photovoltaic technology itself hasn't been in the mainstream all that long.
I am a bit doubtful of photovoltaics that work at night, for the simple reason that at night there is less of *every* kind of energy falling on earth. Less visible light, infrared, etc. Infrared just happens to be particularly good at giving away hot objects, which is how Night Vision goggles work.
For the same reason, a night vision windshield might be a very useful tool, but it would still have difficulty picking out colder objects, and those that reflected less infrared light. In other words, you might see cars and pedestrians, but you could easily miss the upcoming embankment 0.o .
Can I Plug A Solar Panel Into A Wall Socket To Lower My Electric Bill?
I Have In Mind A Small Solar Panel That Could Be Plugged Into A Wall Socket. Do I Need A Converter Or Some Kind Of Interference Between The Two Power Sources So There Aren'T Any Unpleasant Explosions? I Don'T Know Much About This Sort Of Thing So Please Be Nice.
You're quite right that the solar panel can't be directly connected.
I sense that you want to start small, but unfortunately, it's hard enough to make a system with a dozen or more panels pay back. (It can, we have a system...) But with just one panel, maybe a small one, the economy of scale is gone. You need to buy a grid-tie inverter, which watt-for-watt will be more expensive than a regular size one, and for a small panel, the $$/watt value will be poor.
There are some [illegal in most places] tiny grid-tie inverters that I see advertised on the web from time to time, with an ordinary plug that goes into the wall. Those are generally against electrical codes, and the danger is real.
There is also a crop of micro-inverters being sold by companies such as Enphase. These are legitimate products, but will still be costly per watt, and ultimately, it will be hard to have a net savings over time with just one panel.
Have you already taken the conservation steps like LED light bulbs, efficient appliances (especially refrigerator), insulation, and using a power strip to turn off loads that are not being used? That stuff isn't sexy, but saves money fast.
How To Calculate That A 150 Watts Solar Panel Takes How Much Time To Charge A 150Ah Battery .?
Your 150 Amp*hour battery can supply up to 150 Amps in one hour (theoritically) but is really based upon the discharge curves in the battery datasheet. Find the battery model and look up the datasheet from the manufacturer to determine the best charge rate for this capacity.
Typically the charge rate is not any faster than 1/2 the capacity (C) or C/2 with 150 Ah being the capacity. So your charge rate should not be faster than 75Ah, and it is better is the charge rate is more like C/4 or C/8, especailly with solar based systems charging on a 8 ~ 10 hour day now that we are moving into summer. Also the charge rate is irrespective to the voltage of the battery.
Your 150W solar panel also has specifications on it as to the Maximum Power Point (MPP) to which it can operate with full solar radiation. Again chaeck the sepcifications on it to see what the volage and current ranges are. Do not use the open circuit voltages for calculating power as they are for testing the panel and reference only.
A charge controller will need from 13 ~ 15 Volts to charge a 12 Volt battery. Supposing your panel can handle 15V and supposing that your battery is 12V, then the maximum current for the 150W panel would be 150W / 15V = 10.0 Amps maximum. Given that you battery is 150Ah and supposing that there is 30% charge left (never discharge the battery 100%!!), then 100% - 30% = 70% = 0.7 So 0.7 * 150 A*h = 105 A*h Now using 10 Amps into 105 A*h is (105 A*h) / (10 A) = 10.5 hours (barely enough time for a long solar day).
So you would need a charge controller that can support your 12 Volt battery and support a charge rate of 10 Amps per hour to recharge your battery in about 10.5 hours given maximum sunlight.
A better system would be to increse the charge rate to 2 * 10 Amp = 20 Amps by using (2) 150 Watt solar panels to ensure that you get enough sunliight in the day and cut the charging time to 5.25 hours. Again make sure that the charge controller can handle 20 Amps @ 15 Volts.
If your battery is 6 volts, then the times mentioned above can be 1/2 using the same Amp values.
Finally inefficiencies of the system such as the charge controller, length of day, amount of sunlight (cluody days, rainy days, ...etc), losses in the wiring, battery age, outside temperature, battery enclosure temperature, angle of the solar panel, ... etc can affect the overall charge rate time. So again over-sizing your system will help to cover these losses and reduce the charge time down to an acceptable recharging time for your battery.
Finally if you need to use the battery during the day, it is best to have another battery to swap out and alternate days if possible. Otherwise if you drain on the battery is heavy you may need to size up your power by adding more batteries as well.
How Are You Helping The Environment?
My Family Recycles And Walks To Many Places =]
I Feel So Proud.
I Even Cut My Hair (Which Was Like Zac Efrons) So That I Dont Need To Shower Everyday. Yeah Its Kinda Gross But I Dont Sweat Much And Showering Every Other Day Is Good Too. Lice Like Clean Hair =]
What Are You Doing To Help The Environment?
Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live completely, 100% “off of the grid and are completely self sufficient”
The house is built utilizing natures natural elements, in the shape of an octagon with 8ft wide arch doors on every wall to catch every angle of wind (typical 4 sided homes have half the chance as one with 8 sides. A circle being the most efficient design). Woodburning stoves, solar chimney, solar AC, solar heating, solar water heating (pool and home), solar stove, solar power, wind power, hydrogen powered back up generator, hydrogen back up water heater, hydrogen stove, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (electric vehicle) and satellite internet.
We also built many green small cabins on the ranch that we offer to family, friends and our on-site off-grid workshop guests, including one straw bale, one papercrete, earth bag and adobe, one cob and cordwood, one underground and rammed earth, one log and post and beam and one rock. Each one actually started as a test for what the main house would be and were later finished and turned into guest cabins. I later wrote a guide on how to build with alternative materials using alternative methods for next to nothing.
We raise meat and milk goats, chickens for meat and eggs, ducks for meat and eggs, trap havilina (wild boar pig), rabbit, quail. brew our own beer from home grown products, preserve our fruits, vegetables, etc. smoke and jerky the meat, make our own soap, cheese.
There are no utility lines, no water lines, no roads, tv, cell service, etc. on our ranch. EVERYTHING needed is produced here. All electricity comes from 27 solar panels, 2 main wind gens and a back hydrogen generator if needed (typically we can last 9 days with all luxuries of sunless windless weather, hasn't happened yet). Water is caught and storaged from the rain. Hot water is made with solar batch water heaters with an on-demand hydrogen hot water heater as backup. solar chimney, solar AC, solar heating, solar water heating (pool and home), solar stove, solar power, wind power, hydrogen powered back up generator, hydrogen back up water heater, hydrogen stove, 2 hydrogen powered trucks, 1 EV (electric vehicle) and satellite internet. Even our vehicles use alternative energy (2 hydrogen trucks, 1 EV electric vehicle converted). Because of this we have no bills, no debt and no mortgage.

I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.
my home has all the comforts listed above plus some. we live very comfortable without effecting the environment. just saying that tol et you know it's possible. you may not want to go as extreme as me and my family but anywhere in between is something.
Without getting to in depth here, Using alternative fuels in your vehicles and harnessing your own electricity from the sun, water, earth and wind are the 2 are key elements in making a green transition and erasing your carbon footprint.
here's a calculator to find out how much of a green impact your making (carbon footprint)

I've been installing home made Solar panels. Solar stoves, Solar batch and inline hot water heaters. Solar radiant heating. Solar home heating and AC, along with home made wind gens and other alternative energy items for the last 3 years.
You can even make the above projects on site with simple parts from the local hardware stores or auto stores or junk yards. For more info check out some guides I wrote / compiled on how to DIY www agua-luna com
Again these projects can be accomplished anywhere by anyone.
if you absolutely can't do anything in your home at least you can put alternative fuels in your car. most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.
In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.
The trick is finding fuel.
I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..
